
José Otávio Caldeira - Senior Vice President
As Senior Vice President of Construction, José Otávio Caldeira is responsible for managing Flagler Group's development projects and construction operations. Mr. Caldeira brings to the company over 26 years of managerial and technical experience in engineering and construction in both the United States and Brazil.
Prior to joining Flagler in March 2006, Mr. Caldeira's former employer was Odebrecht Construction, one of the top 25 construction companies in the world. During his 13 years at Odebrecht in Miami, Mr. Caldeira played an important role in several large-scale projects, including the Miami International Airport, the American Airlines Arena, 1500 Ocean Drive / Ocean Steps condominium in South Beach, and most recently the Performing Arts Center of Greater Miami / Carnival Center.
Mr. Caldeira comes from a family deeply rooted in the construction and real estate business. His career started in Brazil building for clients such as Petrobras, the Brazilian national oil company, and the Brazilian National Housing Agency, which operates massive "design build" developments of homes for low income buyers. His primary focus at the housing agency was to implement programs to reduce cost through increased productivity. Before joining Odebrecht he worked for 6 years focusing on "design build" luxury high rises and homes.
Mr. Caldeira graduated from Gama Filho University in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he attained a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. He continued his education at Rio de Janeiro University (Financial Management in Engineering), and the University of Miami (Professional Development, School of Continuing Studies). He has also participated in many seminars on construction law, finances and design-build concepts.
